What this site collects, and what happens to it.
Short version: the site sets no cookies, counts visits without identifying you, and only knows who you are if you send me a message. Here is the long version.
Who is responsible
This site belongs to Mete Karamanoglu, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, trading as Reality Growth. I am the controller for any personal data described here. Questions go to mete@realitygrowth.com.
Visiting the site
- No cookies. This site sets no cookies and uses no tracking pixels, which is why there is no cookie banner.
- Visit counts. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It works without cookies and without fingerprinting, and it does not identify individual visitors.
- Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- The video. The client video on the home page is hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, YouTube's privacy policy applies. The player uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which stores no viewing history unless you interact with the player.
Sending me a message
- What I collect. Whatever you put in the contact form or an email: typically your name, email address, and your message.
- Why. To reply to you and, if we go on to work together, to do the work and keep records of the engagement. The legal basis is the steps you ask me to take before a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- Where it goes. Form submissions are processed by Tally, a form provider based in Belgium that stores data in the EU, and are copied to my email (Google Workspace) and to my own records in Notion. Nobody else receives it. I do not sell or share enquiry data.
- How long. If we do not work together, I delete enquiry data twelve months after our last exchange. If we do, engagement records are kept for six years after the engagement ends, which is the period UK tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to my processing it, or ask for a copy. Email mete@realitygrowth.com and I will answer within a month. If you are unhappy with my answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
